Adelaide Hills Chardonnay - Woodside 2016

A flinty chardonnay with grapefruit and orange peel citrus.  Wild fermented in old oak and lees stirred for added body.

From the Bowe-Lees single Vineyard in Woodside. Meticulous vineyard selection meant the fruit was in perfect condition. It was whole bunch foot crushed and held with S02 for four days at 5 degrees. It was then basket pressed to a new French 700L Demi-Muid for ferment. After ferment it was transferred to old French barriques where it was lees stirred often, for three months. It was finally gravity blended and bottled without fining or filtration after around 9 months on full lees. Tight and racy, there is loads of texture too. Definitely going to gather interest in the medium term.
